PERFORMANCE THERAPY FAQ’S

WHAT IS PERFORMANCE THERAPY?

Performance Therapy bridges the gap between rehab and performance training. It goes beyond traditional rehab and physical therapy with each session incorporating a unique blend of manual therapy, corrective exercise and strength training tailored to the individual. Clients work with a Doctor of Physical Therapy for 60 minutes to perform a full evaluation and customize treatment according to their specific needs, with most clients seeing results within the first 2-3 sessions.  Cryotherapy (via CRYOPDX) and Normatec Compression can also be incorporated to enhance pain relief and recovery after sessions. We also believe in prevention (prehab) and work with clients that either need medically supervised training/therapy because of a pre-existing conditions or mitigate injury/surgery risk that can be avoided with advanced physical therapy.

ROKKE also has a team of professionals that works together on-site so clients can seamlessly transition to work with a Physical Therapist, a Massage Therapist or Performance Coach to accelerate recovery, address immediate pain, or work to transitioning into optimizing their body.

WHY CHOOSE ROKKE VS. A HOSPITAL, CLINIC, GYM, OR CHIRPRACTOR?

At most physical therapy clinics, clients will be seen by a physical therapist for an initial evaluation. Subsequent visits may include seeing the Physical Therapist for 10-15 minutes, where the remaining session (which may not last an hour) will be with an aide, assistant, or trainer, who may have multiple patients at once.

At ROKKE, you will only be seen by a Doctor of Physical Therapy for each visit (for a full hour, no aides/assistants/trainers) to provide you the highest level of individualized quality care which few clinics can offer.  ROKKE Physical Therapists have additional highly specialized credentials and training to address advanced, complex or niche issues.  From advanced manual therapy techniques, strength and conditioning, to exercise prescription with a deeper understanding of how the body moves, our practitioners have years of clinical, on-the-field experience from hospitals, private clinics, to sport teams.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?

For an initial appointment (which last an hour), clients will receive a comprehensive, thorough evaluation to have specific ailments or concerns assessed, with an individualized/custom treatment plan that may include soft tissue/manual therapy or exercise prescription.

We recommend that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your first appointment to complete a quick intake form. We encourage clients to wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely along with exercise-appropriate sneakers that comfortably support your feet

HOW MANY VISITS WILL I NEED?

The number of visits will vary based on your individual need and condition.  The majority of ROKKE clients see a reduction of symptoms within the first three visits.  We have several options from single sessions to packages that reduce per-session cost for the best value.

DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN TO RECEIVE PHYSICAL/PERFORMANCE THERAPY?

The State of Oregon is a direct access state, which allows you to receive treatment and services from a Doctor of Physical Therapy without a referral.

I HAVE CHRONIC NECK OR BACK PAIN, CAN PERFORMANCE THERAPY HELP ME?

Absolutely!

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDER?

As an out-of-network provider, we do not directly accept health insurance. At the end of each visit, clients pay us for services provided.  However, we provide clients with a receipt and Superbill (an itemized form used by healthcare providers for claims) to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement.  Depending on individual out-of-network benefits, clients have received up to 50-85% to full reimbursement from their insurance providers, or have services go toward reducing their deductible. Clients are responsible for contacting their insurance provider to verify out-of-network benefits before appointments.

WHY DID ROKKE PERFORMANCE THERAPY DECIDE TO BE AN OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDER?

As an out-of-network provider, ROKKE Performance Therapy can provide clients with the highest level of quality care without the restrictions and mandates of insurance. Our therapists can decide how to effectively treat clients by providing a full 60 minute session (no aides or assistants). We exist to serve our clients, not the insurance companies that dictate and restrict what can and cannot be done.

WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT OPTIONS?

We accept all major credit cards, cash, checks, as well as HSA (Health Savings Account), HRA (Health Retirement Account) and FSA (Flex Spending Account).

sports PERFORMANCE FAQ’S

WHAT IS SPORTS PERFORMANCE?

Sports Performance training focuses on improving functional movement and targeted strength and condition training to support the physical demands of sports.

HOW IS ROKKE’S PERFORMANCE TRAINING DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PLACES THAT DO GENERAL TRAINING OR FITNESS?

We believe in building athletes first and work to address weaknesses, decrease injury risk, and build strength, power, speed, and agility to build a strong foundation and provide athletes with everything they need to succeed. Each program is designed with the youth athlete in mind and our smaller group classes are coached by experienced, educated professionals that understand how to work with youth athletes in a positive, fun, safe and challenging environment.

All of our athletes begin each workout with a dynamic warm-up system before any training is done to introduce movement, prepare the body for training, and activate necessary muscle groups. We believe in working smarter, not harder, and utilize advanced training techniques to maximize each workout from start to finish.

IT TRUE THAT YOU HAVE ATHLETES WARM UP WITHOUT THEIR SHOES?! I’VE NEVER SEEN THAT BEFORE, WHY DO YOU DO THAT!

Part of our training and movement systems is to achieve total body strength. This includes foot strength, which is a small but very important component of training that most athletes forgo or neglect. Increasing foot strength helps with spatial and sensory awareness to increase proprioception and primes the body for better mind/body connection. Studies also show that foot/toe strength has a direct correlation to the ability to change direction, affect jump performance, balance, and general mobility.

Plus, we keep our gym clean so you can safely warm-up shoeless and absolutely put on any footwear before engaging in any weight lifting.
